Good Things Coming to an End…and Bad Things, Too… August 11, 2007

Well, Tyler’s still in Omaha. He just can’t seem to get that chest tube to stop draining, I guess. He’s been improving, but not at the rate we’d like to see. Hopefully he’ll be home sometime next week.

I went to Fort Dodge yesterday to see my surgeon and things are progressing well. Apparently my new bite is “textbook”, so I guess I’m happy about that even though I’m still a little swollen. Also, I’m still having trouble with my contacts. I just can’t seem to find an eye drop that will keep my eyes from getting red and itchy when I wear them. I’m starting to wonder whether I’ll be stuck in glasses for the rest of my life…

Tonight Wilhelm joins the Sajdak family. I’m a bit apprehensive about this…I guess because my family has never done this kind of thing before. I really do wish I could be home for this experience, but I am excited to go back to Dordt as well. Home is getting boring without everyone home…Ty, that means hurry up already! 🙂

Hope all is well with everyone!

Wow, it’s sure been a long time since I’ve posted on this blog, but I think I’ve actually missed it. I finally got my computer to work the way I’ve wanted it to (all by myself), so buying a new computer can be delayed awhile longer.

While I was on vacation this past week, my dad decided to have an emergency appendectomy. Needless to say, my brother and I have really had to step up on the work being done around the house. I’m trying to accomplish in a week what I’d hoped to accomplish in a month…we’ll see how far I get.

So I’m home now…not sure if I’m completely happy about that yet. I miss all my friends already, but I’m pretty sure I’ll survive. I’ll definitely be busy enough…. Right now, I’m watching Discovery Channel…the last time I actually watched TV was about three weeks ago not counting weekend movies. I’m pretty tired right now, but I’m not ready to go to bed yet because I’m so used to going to bed at 2 am and getting up at 7-7:30 am. Tomorrow I plan to go hang out at the library and research for a couple papers for most of the day. Lots of people to see and stuff to do…I’m not sure I’ll get it all done. The ride home went pretty well, Emily G and I talked most of the way and it was a great time.

Everyone’s also excited to see Meet the Robinsons when we get back….”I have a big head and little arms”…lol. Anyway…signing off.

“Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.”

-Harvey Fierstein

So I’m going to try to start writing in this thing more regularly again…if anyone ever reads this. 🙂 I’m listening to Disney soundtracks…which is pretty amazing and enjoyable. Whenever you’re feeling down, Disney works pretty well. I’m kinda excited to go home on Thursday, but a part of me still wants to stay at Dordt. It’ll be nice to sleep in my own bed though, and see Heather, Ashley, Jenessa, Marcus, Luke, and Sara, Dave, Cody, etc….wow, I didn’t realize there were so many people I needed to see…

Anyway…I’m out. I think I’m going to bed early so I can run in the morning….yay.

Haven’t Written in Awhile – Here it Goes March 10, 2007

Well, this week’s been pretty eventful, what with the Equality Ride preparations and then the Equality Ride showing up. Between that and homework I really didn’t have time to do much else. Last night was really fun though, minus getting thrown in the snowbanks so many times! (Thanks a lot Rob and Jon…lol) The band concert was pretty good, but I was utterly exhausted so I didn’t pay as much attention as I could have. There was also a free movie night at the Sioux Center theater at midnight…so, of course, I went. I watched Bridge to Terebithia (where, surprisingly, there were more guys than girls….hmmm) and it was really a lot better than I had expected it to be. Terebithia wasn’t exactly as I had imagined in my head, but I think they did a good job of portraying a “kingdom” that exists completely in the minds of the main characters without leaving a lot out of the book.

Not much has happened today. I got most of my homework done for Monday (all I have to do is write two poems) and I have to write a paper and do an assignment for Tuesday. All in all, I don’t think this week is going to be as bad as I thought it would…and I get to leave for home on Thursday! YAY! But that’s when I’m going to have to write all of these big papers…so we’ll see what happens.

I’m kinda jealous of all the people going on PLIA or that live in far more interesting places than Iowa. Not that I’m complaining that Iowa is a horrible place or anything…I just wish there was more of a landscape….real prairie would be pretty amazing….

Anyway, I should write those poems before dinner so I can go around and have some fun later.

Definitely a Blizzard…No Questions Asked March 1, 2007

Well, it’s really snowing outside and my pants are soaked because I fell walking out of the dorm. However, I really want to go make snow angels or something…actually throwing snowballs sounds really fun. But not until this wind dies down. Everyone’s out of school today…my brothers, most other schools (even some colleges), except Dordt. Figures. 🙂

I was hoping that I would finally be on top of the huge pile of homework I’ve got by this weekend, but I was totally wrong. Lots and lots of homework to do. Hoorah. I’m excited for a weekend though because it means no class and I can do some fun stuff at least.

Anyway, nothing deep from me today. I’m too exhausted from being up until 1:30 AM writing a historiography paper.

Dreams? February 23, 2007

“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

-Thomas Edward Lawrence

I’ve been thinking a lot about dreams lately as well. For example, what happens when two dreams clash and can’t be fulfilled? Anyway…it’s kinda late and I want to go to bed on time tonight….maybe I’ll explain more tomorrow…
