That’s all that’s left of the regular season in baseball and softball this season. Two weeks. April 28 marks the end of the season so it’s a big weekend for the Defender baseball season as they tip past the halfway point of the GPAC season and the Defenders need some wins. Four home games against Nebraska Wesleyan and Concordia. Hope the weather holds.
Travis Dekkers set the all-time hits record at Dordt College with his 156th hit, happening last weekend against Mount Marty. I believe an equally impressive feat is the fact that he’s been in all but two of the games for the Defenders through his career and has been in the lineup for each game since early in the 2009 season.
Hockey has news as they are joining a new league. It may mean more travel for the Blades but they should be in a more stable setting than the past couple seasons. Should also be a simpler scheduling and that will take some burden off of coach Bill Elgersma. Teams in the west division of the MACHA Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin Platteville, Missouri State, Kansas and Nebraska.
Trying a few new things as the year comes to a close, namely, having Sam Ekstrom record some interviews with coaches and athletes. Working some of the kinks out in regards to the video and audio. Keep trying new things…..
Baseball in 37 minutes.
